Assisted Living In Durham North Carolina
Durham is situated along the Eno River in the east-central part of the Piedmont region of North Carolina. It has an estimated 285,527 residents, approximately 11.9% of whom are 65 or older. Many health care companies in the city, over 300 in total, have earned it the title of city of medicine. Durhams lower than average healthcare costs, warm summers and minimal snowfall make it a perfect place for seniors to retire.
Assisted living is for seniors who wish to maintain independence while receiving assistance with daily tasks such as dressing, bathing and medication assistance. While residents of assisted living communities may not be able to live independently at home, they do not require the level of care provided in nursing homes. Assisted living costs vary based on factors, including the facilitys services and location. According to Genworths Cost of Care Survey Durham residents pay an average of $4,800 per month for care, higher than the respective state and national costs of $4,010 and $4,500.
With this guide, seniors can better understand the cost of assisted living in the city and how it compares to nearby areas. Theyll also be able to weigh up the pros and cons of living here and have several valuable resources at their disposal.
