Elderly Woman Dies After Being Pinned Under Car At Nashua Assisted Living Facility
Nashua police investigate the death of a 79-year-old pedestrian in the parking lot at Bridges by EPOCH, 575 Amherst St.
NASHUA An elderly woman died Monday after being pinned under a vehicle in the parking lot of a local assisted living facility.
Police said the incident occurred around noon when a 79-year-old was walking in the parking lot of Bridges by EPOCH at 575 Amherst St.
Nashua Fire Rescue utilized equipment to lift the vehicle, and the victim was found deceased, police said in a statement.
The driver is cooperating with police in the investigation, according to the news release.
It is still unclear whether the female victim and the male driver knew each other, or whether either of them were visitors or patients at the 54-unit assisted living facility for Alzheimers patients.
I dont think they were residents , Lt. Carlos Camacho of the Nashua Police Department said of the driver and the victim. They are kind of still working on that.
Camacho said Monday evening that he did not know whether the driver and the victim knew each other, adding all aspects of the incident are still under investigation.
Their names were not released on Monday.
Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact the departments criminal investigation bureau at 603-594-3500.
Michelle Pelham, executive director of Bridges by EPOCH at Nashua, did not immediately return a phone call and email seeking comment on the fatality.

Bridges provided my mother with outstanding care. There is nothing pleasant to write about having a parent with mid to end stage Alzheimers disease. After 3 years at another assisted living she needed more individual care requiring more minding and one-on-one care. She lived in one of the three-18 resident households that were spacious, quiet, safe and beautifully designed. My mothers private room overlooked an enclosed courtyard full of perennials that she had access to for walks and sitting. My mother, who like to keep to herself, was somehow engaged by the staff to the point that she regularly joined in with activities from live music, dancing, art projects, gardening, yoga/stretching, going out for ice cream, visiting museums, restaurants, community theatre, shopping, even a nighttime ride to check out the best Christmas light displaysthe list of activities was endless. When my mother came to the end stage of her life the whole staff rallied to keep her comfortable and support our whole family. The care was thoughtful and tender. Its something I will never forget.

During our tour with Bridges the people were all extremely nice. The facility was very clean and had a modern look/feel to it. I just did not get a warm feeling when walking in, it was a little more clinical. Overall it seemed like a great place.
My husband suffers from Alzheimer”s. On , we moved there together. I had toured it after one of the biweekly meetings. The Hollis unit was clean and appeared to be an ideal place for my spouse and me. They talked the good talk about all they offered.During our 2 month stay here my husband was in an ER 8 times due to the uncleanliness of the dining room and the individual bathrooms. He almost died in December due to a UTI which the staff failed to tell me he had as I refused to use their doctors. My husband had never had a UTI nor sinus infection before and I was simply told the Alsheimer’s was progressing. 2ER’s and a 3 week stay at a Geriatric Hospital later, he went to ER#3 where they admitted him and the doctor at LGH said he was suffering from a major bladder infection and a very treatable UTI. a few days later we return to Bridges only to leave the next day to take my spouse back to an ER.There is so much more to this story of neglect but no more letters.
Everyone is amazing. The care given to my mother is beyond anything that we have ever expected!! Her day is filled with activities that the staff make sure she is engaged in. The food is amazing! The field trips make her smile!! So wonderful!!
