Elderly, Blind, and Disabled Waiver
The Elderly, Blind and Disabled waiver is one of the most important entitlement programs for seniors in Colorado Springs. This Medicaid waiver provides functionally impaired adults with an alternative to institutional nursing care by covering the cost of home-based services. You may use the EBD waiver to pay for adult day care, homemaker services, consumer-directed attendants, respite care, medical equipment and home modifications.

This comprehensive home health program is an optional extension to the EBD Waiver. We were able to tour the Brookdale Skyline and it was a very very nice tour, the community itself is just beautiful. The apartments were so lovely, and they offered a meal service. The reason we did not choose Brookdale is because its to far out of town and we still very much like to drive around and socialize, however if you are one that would rather stick around the facility and enjoy their meal service this is the place for you.

They have had some issues getting help. The help that does the cleaning don’t seem to come to work. I am looking to transfer my father at this time. There is one nurse for two floors so there is not a lot of help, they do the best. I do feel like this is too expensive for how much that they charge and the services provided . They don’t have enough help to take care of everyone. I spoke with both of the directors and there were a lot of promises in the beginning and now they are not being carried out, it only lasted for 2 weeks.

This comprehensive program allows Medicaid beneficiaries to receive a variety of skilled health care services at home. It covers acute and long-term care related to an illness, injury or disability. Treatments must be medically necessary and the beneficiary must be unable to travel to an outpatient medical facility or clinic to receive the services. Old Age Pension Health and Medical Care Program
This modified Medicaid plan is available to seniors who receive safety-net income through Colorados Old Age Pension but dont qualify for Health First. I would recommend Brookdale Broadmoor. I think the community is good. The staff make it a good community. My loved one gets along with everyone. The staff are very good about answering all my questions.
We toured Brookdale Broadmoor and the facility seemed nice and the guy who showed us around was personable and friendly. I did not see many residents or staff members out and about so there was not a lot of interaction. I just did not get the same feel as I got at another facility.
Our family had a virtual tour because Brookdale was under a pretty strict lock down at the time, but the gentlemen that showed us around did a really good job. Given the circumstances the tour went really well.
Brookdale Broadmoor was too big for my taste. Because of it’s size, I was worried about my loved one not getting the care she needed. But the gentleman who ran the tour was very nice.
