In response to new federal laws for senior living, in 1988 the State of Oregon launched a major new statewide initiative to support the development of assisted living. At that time, assisted living was defined as a group residential setting not licensed as a nursing facility that provides or arranges personal care to meet functional requirements and routine nursing services. Associate Executive Director Melissa has lived in the Skagit Valley for over 20 years. Melissa is married and has two children. Her son, who has worked at Creekside, is now obtaining his degree in Fire Science up in Alaska. Her daughter is working on obtaining her degree in Environmental Science. Melissa has been a part of the Cascade Living Group for the last 7 years, working at Ashley Gardens as nurse, then Wellness Director, at Creekside working in Memory Care as the Associate Wellness Director, and being on call for our Wellness department. She is expanding her role now as our Associate Executive Director.
You will find Melissa working in her yard, working on her antique booth in Sedro Woolley, and taking care of her 3 cats, hamster, bearded dragon and beta fish, named Bob, in her free time. She has a great passion for caring for others and helping people live their best lives.
