IPSWICH The Residence at Riverbend has filed an application to add 11 more units to its building.
The assisted-living facility on County Road currently has 75 units with 85 beds offering different levels of care for senior citizens.
Presenting plans to the planning board last week, attorney Chip Nylen of Lynch, DeSimone & Nylen, LLP, Boston, noted he was involved with the original application to the board in 2012.
The senior-care facility was built on the lot of the former Marguery Restaurant, which was destroyed by fire in 1975.

An Ipswich resident, Nylen said agreements had to be reached during the original application with the Ipswich River Watershed Association, which is next door, and at town meeting, which had to approve a sewer-line extension.
Engineer Charlie Weir of Meridian Associates in Beverly said the agreement with IRWA included the donation of riverfront land and the development of trails.
Residence owners LCB Senior Living also agreed to make 10% of the units affordable or pay into the towns affordable housing trust fund, Nylen said. Those payments have totaled $166,000 over the years, he added.
The current building is around 26,000 square feet, and LCB wants to add a three-story addition with another 4,500 sq. ft. The lot is around 12 acres in area.
The new section would be 75 long and built at the back side of the building.

The Congress Companies Breaks Ground On The Residence At Riverbend Assisted Living Project
IPSWICH, MA Officials from The Congress Companies and LCB Senior Living, LLC, held a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 to mark the commencement of construction of The Residence at Riverbend, a $13M Assisted Living project at 149 County Road in Ipswich, MA. Located on the site of the former Marguery Restaurant, which was destroyed by fire in 1975, The Residence at Riverbend is scheduled to open in the fall of 2014.
The Congress Companies, a full service construction firm based in Peabody, MA will provide Construction Management services for the project, which will be owned and operated by LCB Senior Living, LLC of Norwood, MA.
Congress and LCB have donated more than two acres of riverfront land to the Ipswich River Watershed Association. As part of this plan, a trail will be built for public use for direct access to the Ipswich River and additional open space land will be placed in a permanent conservation restriction.
We are very pleased to be involved with this project and are grateful for the tremendous support weve received from the community. As the only Assisted Living development in Ipswich, we are helping to fill a need for senior care and housing in this area. The project will also provide tax benefits to the Town of Ipswich, plus public access to and the preservation of large amounts of riverfront, among other features, noted William Nicholson, CEO of The Congress Companies.
