We did some research and found the US Department of Veterans Affairs website. The Aid & Attendance for Assisted Living may be added to your monthly pension if you meet one of the following conditions:
You require the aid of another person in order to perform personal functions required in everyday living, such as bathing, feeding, dressing, attending to wants of nature, adjusting prosthetic devices, or protecting yourself from the hazards of your daily environment.
-You are bedridden, in that your disability or disabilities requires that you remain in bed apart from any prescribed course of convalescence or treatment.
-You are a patient in a nursing home due to mental or physical incapacity.
-Your eyesight is limited to a corrected 5/200 visual acuity or less in both eyes or concentric contraction of the visual field to 5 degrees or less

The beginning of 2018 we moved our mom into the Riverway Assisted Living Center in South Jordan. Brandon and Jennifer were both so accommodating and kind throughout the entire process. Our mom can be on the stubborn side and with some signs of dementia and a mental disorder she can at times be opinionated and even difficult to work with. She also made it clear that she never wanted to live in a Care Center. And yet, as we moved her in, the staff at Riverway, worked with her and made the transition as smooth as possible. They got her to church and bingo every week, tailored the food/meals to her and even took her on occasional walks. She wandered the halls and they never discouraged her from doing so. She was there for 4-5 months and everything went much better than expected.
