How Memory Care Facilities Can Help
According to the Alzheimers Association, 83% of all caregivers are unpaid family members, relatives, or other friends, and nearly half of all care is for older adults with some form of dementia. Caregiving, especially when it involves Alzheimers or dementia, is extremely exhausting and time consuming, leading many caregivers to feel isolated and overwhelmed.
As a loved one continues to progress through the stages of dementia and his or her cognitive abilities continue to decline, behavioral problems, safety, and general care often become more than one caregiver can handle. This is when its important to find extra help, and residential facilities that have specialized memory care programs are often the best solution.
In addition to providing a safe environment, memory care programs seek to delay or halt cognitive decline while providing the opportunity for a social, independent lifestyle.

Celebrating 20 Years Of Exceptional Senior Care
The Springs at Simpsonville is a family-owned, award-winning senior care community that was created with the vision of providing quality senior living in the familys hometown. The owners, The Howard Family, have always been involved in fueling the strategic growth of the Simpsonville and Fountain Inn areas.
In February 2001, the doors of The Springs at Simpsonville opened for the first time. It began with 56 assisted living beds and 12 memory care beds. A few years later, three independent living cottages were constructed on the property.
In short order, it became clear that the need for senior care services was abundant and four years later The Springs implemented the first of two major expansions. Today, The Springs has 75 assisted living beds, 16 memory care beds and six independent living suites. The property improvements continue with the addition of an All-Day Café and Life Stations in the Memory Care community.
The Springs story is simply told by describing a community-focused family with the vision of creating a special place that their own family and friends could feel right at home and still get the loving care they deserve.
It feels like a privilege to get to care for the seniors at The Springs at Simpsonville, says Executive Director Peggy Masterson. Seniors are sometimes the forgotten age group, and yet they have so much to offer and so much living yet to do. They just need a little help.
