What ongoing training does the staff receive in dementia care?
All Springs Ranch employees are given several hours of dementia care training during their on-boarding process. We train in the Positive Approach to Care method developed by Teepa Snow. After initial training, monthly in-service trainings are provided, as well as day to day on the spot trainings as opportunities arise. Our head nurse has over 20+ years experience working with dementia residents and is very skilled and knowledgeable in all aspects of dementia care.
Describe the overall population of independent living residents at Springs Ranch Memory Care & Craftsman Cottages. What is their average age? What are their favorite things to do?
With only 12 cottages, we are a smaller IL. Average age is probably 75. Most of our residents keep to themselves and enjoy the quiet and security of our gated community. Pre-COVID we offered up to 20 hours of activities for our IL residents and hope to resume them soon. Residents have full access to request activities they would like.
What places are nearby for independent living residents to enjoy?
We are located directly across the street from a movie theater and large shopping center area. Many restaurants, stores, and several hotels are within walking distance. Less than half a mile down the road is a YMCA. We are also located very near Peterson AFB, so retirees can easily access their military amenities.
