What To Consider About Memory Care In Georgetown
Georgetown is one of the largest cities in the Austin-Round Rock metro area of Texas, registering a total population of 70,685 residents, with a sizable 29.1 percent of those being seniors, aged 65 years and older. The Georgetown area has 34 residential facilities, seven in the city and 27 nearby, that provide long-term memory care to senior residents with Alzheimers disease, dementia and other cognitive disabilities. The Texas Health and Human Services licenses these facilities as Type B assisted living facilities and requires an additional Alzheimers certification for facilities providing specialized services for residents with cognitive impairments.
- While Texas has one of the highest sales and property tax rates in the country, it does not deduct any taxes on income, including Social Security pension and all forms of retirement income. This retirement-friendly statewide tax policy means substantial savings for seniors, which can add to their budget for memory care.
- The city of Georgetown is home to world-class medical facilities, including those specializing in brain health and dementia care such as the Georgetown Behavioral Health Institute and the Rock Springs Hospital, in the event of medical emergencies or illness.

Sarah Fiechtner Lvn Nurse
Sarah Fiechtner was born in the Central Valley of California, but dont hold that against her because shes lived all over the US since then and her favorite place to be is in the Lone Star State with her family.
Ever since she was a little girl, Sarah knew she wanted to be a nurse. She had a lot of practice caring for both people and animals as the oldest of eight kids who lived in the country with goats, chickens, turkeys, dogs, cats, and one really lazy horse. In 2013 she achieved her dream by graduating from the vocational nursing program at Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts and started working right away as a school nurse for the next six years.
When she moved to Texas to be closer to her family, Sarah found an amazing opportunity to work for Tiffin House and ever since she started in August, she already feels like part of the family. From her clinical time during nursing school working in many long-term care facilities, she knows what a special place Tiffin House is. Her goal at Tiffin House is to care for the residents the way she cared for her late grandmother Jackie with love, dedication, and a commitment to a great quality of life.
Some of Sarahs favorite activities include reading, hiking, drawing, hanging out with her rambunctious niece and three nephews, gardening, and cooking gourmet meals. She also loves watching basketball with her brothers and rooting for the underdog.
