As is the case with many commemorative months, AAPI originated with Congress. In 1978, Congress passed, and President Jimmy Carter signed into law, a joint resolution declaring a week in May as Asian/Pacific American Heritage Week. This was later expanded to a month, and in 1992, May was designated as Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month.

$30m Senior Living Community Coming To Northeast Springfield
Foster Senior Living LLC is developing a $30 million senior living community in northeast Springfield called Springhouse Village East.
Company CEO John Foster said construction on the 100-bed assisted living and memory care center with 37 separate single-family units is slated to start this month at 3863 E. Farm Road 132. The 15-acre site, which Foster Senior Living purchased eight months ago for $1.2 million, is east of the Menards home-improvement store at U.S. Highway 65 and Chestnut Expressway.
Our market study says there is a need for it, Foster said. Weve been in business for a long time, so we know the market pretty well.
The Missouri Health Facilities Review Committee this morning approved a 15-bed addition to an original certification of need for an 85-bed assisted living facility given the green light in November 2017. The 15 additional beds have a development cost of $2.1 million, according to the state committees agenda.
Foster said a general contractor has not been been finalized for the 95,000-square-foot assisted living center designed by independent architect Eddie Tims.
Foster Senior Living also operates a Springhouse Village in Fayetteville, Arkansas, he said.

Arrow Senior Living Hosts Job Fair For Healthcare Positions In The Springfield Area
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Missouri-based company Arrow Senior Living owns three facilities in the Springfield-area, including The Fremont Senior Living Facility in Springfield, The Township Senior Living in Battlefield and The Castlewood Senior Living in Nixa.
All three will host a job fair Thursday at the Springfield location from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Arrow Senior Living is hiring 50 employees including nurses, nurse assistants, medical technicians and servers for their restaurant.
Christy Kay, the executive director of The Fremont Senior Living, says because of the pandemic they had to pause new residents moving in. As restrictions are lifted, theyve noticed an influx of residents.
Our staff has been great with picking up shifts but everybody gets tired and you know worn down, said Kay. If you have the heart for the elderly. It has a lot a lot to do with, you know the heart and the patients. We definitely need it for the residents more than, more than anything.
Kay said it will be a fun event for the family with a petting zoo, an ice cream stand, a food truck and babysitters will be available while interviews are done.
